For its first event of 2025, SCT will have a preview performance of its competition-bound show "On the Verge" by Eric Overmyer - one-night-only on Thursday, January 16 at 7pm.
Admission is $15 (or $10 for students and active military), and all ticket income and donations at the door help support the not-insignificant costs of production, registration, and travel to out-of-town competition. This performance is not included as part of any pre-purchased season ticket.
Directed by Jo Durst, and starring DeeDee Baldwin, Michele Crescenzo, Jasmine Johnson, and Bradley Long, "On the Verge" will represent SCT at the Mississippi Theatre Association festival in Meridian in January.
In this inventive and celebrated absurdist comedy, three Victorian lady travelers take it upon themselves to discover the mystery of things as they set out for an unexplored land called Terra Incognita. Though very different in their attitudes and their backgrounds, all three exhibit their own form of independence. From the world in general and specifically from men. As the ladies progress on their travels, the laws of time and space shift and it becomes apparent that they are not on an ordinary journey.
In addition to the one-act show (less than hour in length), our January 16 performance will start with a 10-minute set-up period where the audience will get to watch the cast and crew assemble the set and prepare the stage quickly, right before their eyes.
"On the Verge" is produced by special arrangement with Broadway Play Publishing Inc, NYC - www.broadwayplaypublishing.com. This production is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
