For one night only, the Starkville Community Theatre stage will host a revival performance of the one-act play "Underneath the Lintel", onstage at the Playhouse at 7pm on Tuesday, September 3.
Having won awards at state, regional, and national competitions in 2023, the show has been invited to headline the Fort Worth Fringe festival in Texas the first weekend of September. Before making that road trip, the production will have one more bow on its home stage here in Starkville. If you missed it last year or if you're excited to see it again, this is your last local opportunity.

In this gripping ghost story, an eccentric librarian (played by Kris Lee - who claimed Best Actor awards at all three levels of competition in 2023) discovers a weather-beaten book in a return bin — 113 years overdue. Sparked by a message left in its margins, he embarks on a magical quest that takes him around the world and 2,000 years into the past. With astonishing twists and turns, "Underneath the Lintel" draws audience members into an unforgettable odyssey via a one-man monologue.
Written by Glen Berger, "Underneath the Lintel" is directed by Paula Mabry, with assistance from Pattye Archer. Additional crew members for the traveling show include Madeline Golden, Stephen Cunetto, and Marsha Williams.
This performance is a fundraiser to kick off our new season, is not included as part of any SCT season ticket, and admission is $20, with $15 discounted tickets for students and active military.
The physical box office is open Mondays, Tuesday, and Fridays in August from 9am to 1pm, and the office will return any voicemails for reservation requests left after hours. For any remaining last-minute seats, the office will open on show night at 6pm.
