ABOUT ABOUT

Theatrical conmen, vengeful ghosts, a real-life hero, an icy train excursion, the French revolution, and so much more await you in Starkville Community Theatre’s 2024-2023 season, which begins in late September.

Season tickets are on sale now, with a main season of four shows available at a package cost of $60 per person. The four productions are:

The Producers - September 25-28 at 7pm; September 29 at 2pm; October 1-3 at 7pm; and October 5 at 2pm.

In outrageous musical comedy sensation from the demented mind of Mel Brooks, a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to stage the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: The wildly offensive show becomes a smash hit!

*Know Before You Go: "The Producers" contains moments of strong language, adult themes and abrasive, bawdy humor – we consider it a hard PG-13.*

Blithe Spirit - November 14-16 at 7pm; November 17 at 2pm; and November 19-22 at 7pm.

In this comedy classic, fussy, cantankerous novelist Charles has remarried but finds himself haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, Elvira, when an eccentric and flighty medium unexpectedly calls her from the spirit realm. Personalities clash and spectral antics ensue as Elvira makes continual attempts to disrupt Charles's marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost.

They Promised Her the Moon - February 13-15 at 7pm; February 16 at 2pm; and February 19-21 at 7pm.

The first American woman to test for space flight, Jerrie Cobb, steps into an isolation tank for a record-breaking nine hours as her memories unfold before her, from learning to fly as a child to testifying before Congress about the under-the-radar all-female Mercury 13 space program. This compelling drama about the challenges of sisterhood and fighting for the greater good is based on a true story.

Murder on the Orient Express - April 3-5 at 7pm; April 6 at 2pm; April 8-11 at 7pm; and April 12 at 2pm.

A snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks just after midnight. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of year, but by morning, an American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer in case he or she decides to strike again

An extended season ticket, which includes the extra show "The Revolutionists", is also available for $75.

The Revolutionists - May 13-17 at 7pm

Four trailblazing women lose their heads during the French Revolution. In this irreverent dark comedy about violence, legacy, art and activism, a playwright, an assassin, a Haitian rebel and ex-queen Marie Antoinette hang out, plot murder and try to stamp out extremism in 1793 Paris. Is it a true story or is it total fiction? Either way, it’s poignant and raucous and ends in a song and a scaffold.

*Know Before You Go: "The Revolutionists" contains strong language and adult themes and is intended for adult audiences.*

Season tickets save considerable money off general admission costs and allow early booking for reservations, before the public can take the best seats on the most popular performance dates.
